WHO WE ARE

We are an Arts and Health Activity Centre for people affected by ISOLATION, homelessness and exclusion. The project runs a range of creative arts groups and health improving activities.

240Project was established in 1998 to provide support for vulnerable and excluded individuals with a history of homelessness. The Project initially aimed to support newly-housed members in remaining in their homes, as those who have been homeless often return to the streets.

Over the years, the Project has evolved and our aims have broadened. We have become an established Arts and Wellbeing Activity Centre for people affected by homelessness, vulnerability and exclusion. Our aim is to help improve an individual’s self-esteem, confidence, motivation and skill-base. To achieve this, we offer a safe and friendly space where a variety of art and wellbeing activities as well as one-to-one support are on offer.

Our staff and volunteers are available to help with individual issues, ranging from problems with the Council or Benefits Agency, accommodation issues and practical advice.

We are developing new ways to help people see themselves in a different light, so they will be able to approach the issues they face with more confidence. We like to encourage people to try new experiences and build habits that will improve their quality of life.

I feel more positive through simply being treated as a human being again.

I used to be reclusive, but seeing others, and talking about art, laughing, joking, helps me take my mind off my own problems.
